Juniper Springs Campground is one of the most popular campgrounds in the Ocala National Forest. The location offers deeply shaded sites within walking distance of some of Florida's most beautiful natural springs. The surrounding recreation area has plenty of activities to entertain visitors, including swimming, picnicking, canoeing, snorkeling, hiking, birding and wildlife viewing. This campground was named one of Reserve America's Top 100 Family Campgrounds in the United States.

The facility is divided into a day use area and campground. Campsites are arranged into three loops near the creek and springs. All sites are shaded and equipped with a picnic table, grill, campfire ring, lantern post and space for tents. There are no sites with full hookups. Other amenities include hot showers, flush toilets and dump station. Restaurants, shopping and gas are just 10 miles from campground.

Camping Fees:

  • Single Campsite: $36 + taxes/night (14 Day Stay Limit, Maximum Occupancy: 5 People, 2 Vehicles including trailers, 2 tents)

Additional Facility Fees

  • Private canoe or kayak launches (limited to 30 per day, must be on water no later than 1:00 p.m.)

  • Day Use:

    • $13 + tax/per-person

  • 3rd Vehicle: $9.00 + taxes

Driving Directions

From I-75, take Highway 40 east through Ocala and Silver Springs for approximately 36 miles to the Juniper Springs Recreation Area. From I-95, take the Ocala/Silver Springs Exit (Highway 40) west for approximately 37 miles to the Juniper Springs Recreation Area. From the intersection of Highway 40 and Highway 19, the campground is 4.5 miles west on Highway 40. The entrance is on the north side of Highway 40.

Juniper Run Open: 8a.m. - 1:00 P.M. Vessels may not launch later than 1:00 p.m.

Fishing: Not allowed

Rentals

  • Rental kayaks will be available daily 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., based on staff availability. Please call (352) 625-3147 to confirm availability on your desired visit date. There is limited availability for the number of vessels. Rental launches have required orientations every hour on the half hour. You will not be able to launch a rental kayak without attending this orientation.

  • The shuttle will be available daily for private vessels. There is required paperwork and a $15/person fee.

  • All rentals and services are first come, first served. There are no online or advanced reservations available.

Private Canoe or Kayak launches

Private canoes or kayaks may not be inflatable and private launches are limited to 30 vessels per day by the Forest Service. This is it minimize human impact on the wilderness area the run traverses through.
